Because the spiritual life is in conflict. There is a war between spirit and flesh. Stopping our love for sin is tough. Or even doing the things we know are right, but still do things wrong is often where we find ourselves. Paul said, “The things I want to do, I do not do. The things I shouldn’t do, are the things I do.” The key is to keep trying as hard as we can and rely on His grace when we fail.
